AIR ACES – FW190D-12
by Mark Postlethwaite
This release from the ‘Air Aces’ series features the Fw 190D-12 of Walter Kruponski whilst he was flying with JG26 in the West. Kruponski served with JG52 in Russia but was transferred to the West to fly with the famed JG26 ‘Abbeville Boys’. Initially he flew the Me 109G but when the Unit were re-equipped with the ‘Long-nose’ Fw 190D, Krupinski flew the rare D-12 version. He later joined Galland’s JV44 and flew the Me 262 jet.
Here his Fw 190D-12 is shown about to engage US heavy bombers and their fighter escorts in early 1945.
